Villa Clavenstam by Henrik Schulz

Check out this amazing Villa located in Hovås Sweden – a mere 15 minutes drive south west of Gothenburg. Here lives Emma Sahlén with her partner Patrik Clavenstam and their two young daughters.

Having spent two years living in a Gothenburg apartment, they were more than ready to move on to a bigger property with plenty of outside space – close to the countryside but within reasonable driving distance of Gothenburg and its amenities.

Architect Henrik Schulz, who worked with Swedish design heroes Gert Wingårdh and Jonas Lindvall before setting up his own practice, is the architect behind this villa.

The villa boasts two storeys – technically one and a half, as most of the accommodation is situated up on the second level, including a sizeable living room/dining area, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. At ground level, there is a studio, library and laundry room, along with lots of storage space. Rooms on the south side of the property, on the second floor, open onto a substantial decked area facing the forest. The vast swathes of glazing give the villa an open, almost ethereal, feel. Its thoughtful orientation, positioning the main living spaces away from the road, means there’s still plenty of privacy. Watch and enjoy!
