Sheerwater Residence by David Tyrell
Happy Friday! Check out this great house in Kelowna, a city on Okanagan Lake in the Okanagan Valley, in the southern interior of British Columbia, Canada. In this home the living space is seen as an inner verandah, and then wrapped with an outer verandah, which then expands beyond its edges into the space of untamed nature.
Space as we sense it in western culture is typically about how space is ultimately arranged. We have been conditioned to view man at the centre of all things and therefore arrange our spaces accordingly. However I subscribe to the oriental view of space, which is that space, expands outward in a series of circles until it merges with the space of nature.
